We tell our kids sc is real until they get to a certain age because we like to increase their excitement about him and Christmas. Eventually though there comes an age where you can no longer hang on to the falsehood, then they know you were keeping real information from them. This may be where some of the distrust of everyone even parents begins to be considered at a very early age.
We may unknowingly begin the cycle of distrust all in the name of fun and games.
Matthew 18:
2 And He called a child to Himself and set him before them,
3 and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 "Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 "And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;
6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
Jesus as the real reason we celebrate Christmas but many children are taught it is sc is who magically brings the gifts, if there are questions on the part of children then adults try every way to convince them that he is real.
Does it not seem somewhat confusing to try to convince them of both?
The kids can see touch and feel the gifts and are incredibly excited about them so sc is confirmed in their mind as the reason for the blessings we have. But Jesus they cannot see, feel or touch in physical way.
From my understanding it would be ok to begin early in the lives of our children to tell them who all blessings/gifts and the ultimate gift really come from.
